M&T Bank Renews Title Sponsorship Agreement for

Vermont City Marathon & Relay

Burlington, Vermont - April 19, 2024 - RunVermont, the non-profit organization dedicated to producing premier running events across the state, announces that M&T Bank has renewed its title sponsorship agreement for the Vermont City Marathon & Relay. The new contract, signed on Thursday, April 18th, extends the partnership for an additional five years, ensuring that M&T Bank will continue to support the event through May 2029.

M&T Bank's support extends far beyond just financial backing. The bank contributes anywhere from 50 to 100 volunteers annually and sponsors 30 to 50 runners, depending on the year, making a significant impact on the success of the event.

"At M&T Bank, we are committed to supporting the communities where we live and work, and the Vermont City Marathon and Relay is a longstanding source of pride for the Vermont community," said Heidi Stumpff, Regional President-Vermont for M&T Bank. "Our involvement in this event is about more than just sponsoring a race; it's about supporting our community, promoting health and wellness, and bringing people together. We look forward to many more years of working together to make the Vermont City Marathon & Relay a memorable experience for all."

The M&T Bank Vermont City Marathon & Relay is one of the premier running events in the region, attracting thousands of participants from across the country and around the world. The marathon features a scenic course that winds through the streets of Burlington, offering racers breathtaking views of Lake Champlain and the Adirondack Mountains. It also brings thousands of spectators cheering on those racers, who have expressed that the reason they come back is the community support. In recognition of that, the M&T Bank Community Spirit Award for the most spirited community cheering on racers during the event will be coming back this year.

"RunVermont is immensely grateful for the M&T Bank organization’s unwavering support. Their commitment to our organization and the Vermont City Marathon & Relay has been instrumental in fostering a vibrant running community in our state,” said Joe Connelly, Executive Director of RunVermont. “We extend our gratitude for their continued dedication to supporting our mission and for helping to create an inspirational and impactful community event that brings people together from near and far."

The 2024 Vermont City Marathon & Relay, presented by M&T Bank, will take place on May 26, 2024. Registration for the event is open, and runners and wheelchair racers of all ages and abilities are encouraged to participate.
