This is why marathon training is really good for me. There are schedules and plans and rules and you can check off little boxes on your “to do list”.
I decided that I needed to start somewhere with a real plan, because even though I just did a half marathon a couple of weeks ago, I didn’t want to do something to get hurt or just plain burnout.
Fits perfectly into my Type A wheel house!
I looked at a bunch of plans on line. The one that seemed reasonable was the popular Hal Higdon Novice 1. That is 100% me, Novice!!!
I have to switch up the order of the runs a tiny bit, but I thought it would work for me. So, I went to the bookstore and bought a 2016 calendar and counted back from 5/29/16. Everyday from 1/18 on has the miles that Higdon prescribes (or rest or cross training) planned.
No backing out now…it is written in PEN (not erasable), not to mention that RunVT put a link to this blog on Facebook, so EVERYBODY knows!!
