Half Marathon Unplugged Postponed Due to COVID-19 Concerns
Vermont's Governor Phil Scott declared a state of emergency yesterday, March 13th. In his declaration, Vermont will prohibit all large non-essential gatherings of 250 or more. The current Half Marathon Unplugged date falls within the 30 day timeframe prohibiting large group gatherings. Because of this, RunVermont will postpone the race. The emergency order will be reavaluated on April 15th. We will provide additional details relating to the postponement next week and will anounce the new date for the race shortly. In the meantime, stay healthy and keep training.
The Half Marathon Unplugged runs along the Burlington Greenway (bike path), which is adjacent to Lake Champlain with the Adirondacks in the distance. Unplugged is a basic services race -- in other words, No Frills, No Hills! You will experience a scenic, very flat, half marathon race. The after-party includes food from Taco Truck All Stars, Southern Smoke BBQ, and City Market and will be hosted at Switchback Brewing Co. Entertainment will be provided by Blues musician Jacob Green from 10:30AM-1:30PM! This is a great training run or tune-up race for those running the Vermont City Marathon six weeks later. With the low-key and supportive race environment and no hills course, Unplugged is a fantastic option for a runner looking to run their first half marathon.
