We’re excited to offer accolades to all runners who turned out on Saturday, 10/3 to compete for bragging honors as some of the fastest runners in the Green Mountain state. Burlington resident Teague O’Connor laid down a respectable time of 15:51 for the overall fastest time and Mens Open crown. For the Women’s Open winner, Andrea Allen, also of Burlington, posted a time of 19:32 and 10th place overall.

The 5K course demands attention right off the bat as runners move from Waterfront Park and immediately proceed up Depot Street with an elevation gain of more than 100’ in the first ½ mile. From there, they proceeded along North Ave before running past Burlington High School and onto the bike path to return to Waterfront Park where they were all greeted by Champ as they crossed the finish line.

The race featured a time trial start format with runners leaving the start line at 10 second intervals, a feature that many runners suggested was an enjoyable experience and gave everyone some incentives to chase down those in front of them on the course.

In the Masters Races, Allan Mead offered up an 18:43 performance to take honors for the men and Molly Peters, St. Micheal’s College Womens XC Coach, led by example in besting all of her runners, winning the Womens Masters race and taking 2nd place overall for the ladies. Justin Brown and Carolynne Morris took runner-up honors respectively in the Masters division.
