The RunVermont team is aware that many runners and volunteers who make the People’s United Bank Vermont City Marathon happen every year will have questions about the status of this year’s race, especially in lieu of the recent announcement from the Boston Athletic Association to cancel the 2020 Boston Marathon and convert the event to a virtual only race.  At this time, our Marathon remains rescheduled for October 25, as we continue to monitor the impacts of the coronavirus around our region, state, and country by following updates from the World Health Organization, the Centers for Disease Control, Johns Hopkins University, the Vermont Department of Health and the Governor’s Task Force as our Vermont economy is “opened up.” With nearly five months until race day and such a dynamic situation, we remain hopeful that we may be able to move forward with our race.

RunVermont will provide an update by the end of June as we near the time when many of our runners would commence the training cycle for a late October marathon.  We are encouraged by the many runners we see outside every day and want to remind the community to consider participating in our new “Get Out, Give Back 5K” Virtual Run Series and our brand new “RunVermont, A Virtual Adventure” - great ways to enjoy the outdoors and the magic of right, left, repeat!

Thank you!
