Last week was interesting, to say the least. It was a few days of sadness and horror at the events in Boston and my heart goes out to all affected. I know many of you also knew people who were either running the marathon, watching loved ones run, or were simply in the city.
Aside from the shock and concern felt as friends, loved ones, or just fellow humans, as runners I’m sure we can all share in the anger and frustration of having something taken away from you that you’ve worked so hard for, for so long. Those who were able to finish the marathon were denied a proper celebration, and many people were within mere feet or minutes of finishing.
I was happy to get the email the next day from RunVermont assuring all of us marathon runners that the KBVCM would still take place; I think it’s important to stay positive, motivated, and embraced in a healthy community event. We are now only FIVE weeks away from Marathon Day! I’m getting nervous but excited, too.
I had some knee trouble last week that stopped me in my tracks during one run. It was painful. I’m so motivated to move past this though and get my 20-miler done in preparation for the big day, so I’ve been stretching and taking it easy. We’ll see how it goes this week! Stay safe and happy until next week, All!
