in Giveaway Thursday!

Congratulations to last week’s Giveaway Winner Mary Vallely! She won a LL Bean Adventure Bag, courtesy of MVP Health Care. We loved hearing about how you got into running-lots of funny and heartwarming stories.

I have been told that I have too many running shoes….personally I don’t’ think this is possible. For those of you that know me you know I love to match, so I often match my running shoes to my outfit. I also like to wear different shoes for different running occasions: training shoes, trail shoes, racing flats, cross training shoes,  coaching shoes, blue shoes, green shoes…You get the gist.

I currently have 4 pairs I go between, but one that is my favorite and new shoe that I love. I use the others pending weather and where I run. The pair I love to wear is my new bright Asics for my first HALF marathon training. I can’t seem to wear them out when it is raining or muddy, they are just too pretty :)

I just have one pair at a time, once one is getting too many miles on it, I go get another pair and rotate those two pairs for like two weeks before I switch over to new ones completely.

I keep an extra pair to be sure I always have a dry pair to run in! This has been especially helpful this year! I’m currently running in New Balance, but I’m about to break in a new pair and can’t decide what I want!

I finally found my sole mate – the Brooks Ghost 6. I run until they’re coughing and sputtering and I can feel they’re probably going to get me injured, and then I retire them to my walking shoes. I’ve gone through two pairs so far but there will be many more to come.

Get one pair and run them into oblivion! And sometimes a little beyond that. But I’m very careful not to wear them for anything else except running to maximize their life.

I do have several pair of running shoes. I scoop up several pair of the model that is working for me. I am the type of runner who can barely get 300 miles out of a pair. Of course I have a others that I use for trail running.
I have tried a couple of ‘new’ types of shoes that were popular but my legs are happiest when I stick with one model rather than switching back and forth

I rotate a few sneakers. NB 1400′s, 1600′s and brooks launch.
Love them all!

I have one pair of Brooks. As soon as a pair is “dead” I bring them to a shoe recycling place! Would love to grab a pair of trail shoes as well though for variety.

For me a pair of running shoes comes dons to one thing: comfort. If I find a pair of running shoes (or any shoes, really) that fit comfortabley…those are my running shoes. I don’t even put on any other pairs. I wear that pair until they are worn down and then it’s time to get a new pair. I can’t imagine having too many options, I think sticking with one pair is the best way to do it!

14 Tim May 1, 2014 at 11:17 am

Any given week I’m rotating three pair. Fresh pairs start out for only Sunday LRs, when they get above 100 miles they get bumped to weekday long workout shoes, when they get above 200 miles they become easy/junk/recovery mile shoes, when they get above 300 they are gone. I’ve tried other shoes, but still wear my newbie marathon sneaks I was fit for at Ski Rack – Saucony Hurricanes.

Way too many trail shoes..ask my spouse. :-) Stick to the same Asics for road running. Enjoy trying out the latest shoe..but most times the “old” style continues to work the best. By local.. support our too few running shoe stores!

16 Tanya May 1, 2014 at 1:20 pm

I lean towards Mizuno’s – I have 2 pairs; one pair for trail running, and one that I purchased in March that I completed my first half marathon in! I love how they look too..

17 Ben Taylor May 1, 2014 at 2:04 pm

I’m addicted to running shoes! I currently rotate between two New Balance trainers, one pair of Altra Torins, and a pair of racing flats.

18 Amy May 1, 2014 at 2:20 pm

I usually stick with one pair at a time, Asics for running. When its time for new one’s, the old pair become my outside / walking shoes.

I am a die hard Mizuno sneaker fan, I have 5 pairs currently that I rotate for different things, inspires for my long runs, wave riders for my shorter runs and elixirs for track workouts or races!

I have one pair at a time for road running but various others for different activities such as trail running, going to the gym, walking, etc. I know they supposedly last longer if you rotate btw pairs but I haven’t got my act together to do that and keep track of miles with different pairs.

23 Kevin May 1, 2014 at 6:15 pm

One pair at a time. Until I need a new one and then I rotate for a few runs until the new ones are broken in.

I wear whatever shoe feels good and helps me to run in the most neutral position. For me I have found that this changes over time, and I always try to buy my shoes from a store that will provide me a video analysis of the shoes I’m considering… I ran in Newtons for a few years but recently have been very happy with Adizeros. Never under consideration is how they look. So I have ended up with some real doozies. Neon yellow, hot pink, currently I’m sporting electric blue. My neighbor says she can see me from a mile away…

28 Dana Mck May 1, 2014 at 7:06 pm

1 single lonely pair.

29 Lesley May 1, 2014 at 8:55 pm

Oh Dear. I just counted my shoes the other day and I have 17 pair. I have been most loyal to Saucony but I am always willing to try another brand. A good fit is my primary consideration but I am even happier if they come in a “wow’ color.

30 Julie Detwiler May 2, 2014 at 4:07 am

My numbers boil down to 11 pairs of four varying brands. Of those 11, I’ve retired nine because they either have too many miles on them, or injuries have forced me to switch shoe style (and I’ve all but enshrined the Nike Vomeros in which I ran my first marathon). The lucky two remaining are my Brooks Ghost 6 and I absolutely ADORE them. Like many of the other runners, I rotate these lovelies in the hopes that neither gets overused too quickly and I can keep them longer. I’m hoping they can be my go-to running shoes for quite some time.

31 Katy May 2, 2014 at 7:42 pm

I found a brand that doesn’t my toenails fall off: Asics! I think I’m on my 7th pair! I usually just buy one pair at a time and I wear them out! (like my car!!) I do love that more fun colors have become available in recent years. My current pair are purple and hot pink with lime green laces.

32 Jenna P May 4, 2014 at 7:53 pm

I have been wearing Brooks for 14 years. Every now and then I venture out and try something different, but I always end up back in my Brooks. I rotate between a couple of pairs at a time and when they are completely done, I stash them away until I have an opportunity to donate/recycle them. I usually keep an extra”fresh” pair or two in the closet if I find a good deal on them!

33 Heather May 5, 2014 at 11:24 am

I have one pair that are a perfect fit for me (unfortunately, they happen to be ugly but I have to choose comfort over style) and wear them to death… Although if I had the choice I would have 2 pairs (of the same) so that I can alternate them and prolong the life a little bit.

34 Becky Amy May 5, 2014 at 2:07 pm

I only have one pair right now, but I’m looking for another. I’m starting to get more serious about running, so I want a better shoe!

I have one pair, I wear them til they die and then go on the hunt for new and awesome replacements :)
