GIVEAWAY THURSDAY!

in Giveaway Thursday!

Congratulations to Mary W. who won last week’s GIVEAWAY for a KeyBank Vermont City Marathon running jacket! I am a little heartened to know that few of you regularly sleep in your running duds.

So, for the past few days (er, weeks maybe?) I’ve been a doing a dance.

A snow dance.

And you know what?

It appears to have worked.

There’s a storm coming.

According to the latest forecast* northern Vermont is expected to get between 12-18 inches of snow before Saturday morning.

*Or not, now the storm has been downgraded for the north country, but heck, I’ll be thrilled with a 5″.

Yes, the fact that we haven’t had snow for weeks has done good things for my running (and it would have been even better if the plague hadn’t finally come knocking at my door), but it’s time. It’s time to get back on the hill and ski and ride and call it cross-training.

My excitement about the snow has me a bit distracted. So much so that when I went looking for something in the way of a motivational quote to share with you today I got completely sidetracked by at least 20 minutes perusing the motivational posters on Runner’s World.  I knew about these posters, but hadn’t see the whole line-up before.

Here are two I found particularly appropriate for this February Thursday:

and, (kinda) in the spirit of a particular upcoming holiday:

OK, maybe not so motivational. But, fun.

Today we are giving away a pair of made in Vermont, Guaranteed FOR LIFE DarnTough socks (women’s medium) and a Brooks RunHappy kit! The kit includes a BPA-free water bottle, carabiner, survival beans and a small Swiss Army knife! (Men, before you let that little whine about how the socks are only for women escape your lips, remember, chances are that you KNOW a woman, and maybe even one that would like a new pair of socks. She’ll [maybe] never know if you keep the other stuff.)

To Enter:

Tell us: can you touch your toes? (As in, if you stand with your feet together and bend at the waist can you touch your toes without squatting to do so?)

PLEASE NOTE: In order to claim extra entries for Tweeting or FB’ing the GIVEAWAY, you must follow the NEW rules below. Thank you!

The GIVEAWAY closes at 11:59pm Wednesday, February 13; we’ll announce the winner on Thursday, February 14.

* If you’re a follower of The Run Down, tell us so in an additional comment. (If you’re not a follower, subscribe using the RSS feed on top right of the blog and then leave a comment telling us you did it.)

* Tweet about the giveaway. You must tag @RunVermont and leave one additional comment.

* Share the giveaway by clicking the “share” button just below the GIVEAWAY post on our Facebook page and leave one additional comment.

That’s right; you have the opportunity to get 3 entries into this giveaway!  (If you choose to take advantage of the extra entries be sure to submit an additional comment for each one.)

The rules/fine print:
* We use Random.org to select all winners…at random, from all the comments posted.
