Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!
Congratulations to Danielle K. who won last week’s GIVEAWAY of a $25 KeyPossibilities card. Thanks to everyone who commented on what makes attending a race EXPO worthwhile.
Last week Jen and I traveled to Philadelphia to exhibit at their Health & Fitness EXPO. We were thrilled to meet so many people who called the KeyBank Vermont City Marathon their “favorite.” We also learned that we have some work cut out for ourselves to spread the word that KBVCM really isn’t that hilly. Many people assume our course is downright mountainous and are therefore scared off. We also have a whole new appreciation for EXPO vendors. It isn’t easy to be in a loud, busy EXPO hall and on your feet for nine hours at a go. (We were very thankful for the proximity of the Reading Terminal Market where Jen experienced a Philly Cheesesteak for the first time and I nearly drowned in fresh squeezed carrot-pineapple-ginger and mango-pineapple-mint juices.) All in all it was a great trip.
Are you running in a Turkey Trot today or this weekend? If you’re in the Burlington area, our friends at GMAA are hosting their annual 36th Annual Turkey Trot 5k at the Gutterson Field House at UVM today (Thursday) at 11am. On the other hand, if you happen to be on Cape Cod, please join me at the Andrea Holden 5k in Dennis on Saturday at 10am. There are no shortage of Thanksgiving weekend runs. If you’re in search of one near you, check out Cool Running and RunVermont’s calendar.
Today we’re giving away another one of these fabulous track jackets. They we so popular a few weeks ago and with the giving holidays right around the corner, it seemed like a winner! This is everything a track jacket should be, and then some. The thermal stretch fabric is made with 58% landfill-busting recycled PET and it features an unstructured shaped hood, soft and fuzzy interior, subtly textured matte face, draft-stopping and chafe-preventing windflap, and binding along the sleeve cuffs and bottom hem. We have a men’s (green) and women’s (light blue and turquoise) version of this coat.

I love the leftover sandwiches that follow Thanksgiving most of all! Turkey, gravy, cranberry sauce, served on a nice slice of bread. Yum!
Also a follower of the blog. : )
My favorite Thanksgiving food is a cranberry relish (cranberry, orange & walnuts) that can be served a number of different ways after T-day dinner. Not to mention that it’s tasty way to enjoy fruit & nuts.
My favorite Thanksgiving traditions vary from year to year yet always center around activity: growing up it was always taking a walk with the family after dinner; then on to either Turkey Trots or my own 10K on Thanksgiving morning; and now it’s back to after-dinner walks to be the most inclusive…and I love the deserts – only homemade – and anything pumpkin is the best.
I also follow The Run Down!
And I shared on FB…I’m going running now.
Our Thanksgivings are simple. Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade on TV while I cook and get ready to welcome family. We live near the beach so we usually walk there before dinner, take family photos, etc. and return home for our meal. I’ll be honest and say that my favorite part of the meal is my Grandmother’s homemade cinnamon rolls which I only make once a year and which involve WAY too much butter. But Yum!
Also following the Run Down!
My family loves deep-fried turkey, which I’ve been making for the past ~5 years. It’s safe using an electric deep-fryer, and sooo much better than oven roasted. Our other recent tradition is going to a Celtics game the day after, having Italian food in Boston’s North End.
I love to do a run on Thanksgiving day. I like taking some time in the morning to be in a positive and healthy space.
