Hall of Fame:

2012 Inductee: Sam Davis

The RunVermont Hall of Fame was formed to recognize those individuals who had participated in every running of the KeyBank Vermont City Marathon since its inception. When this event reached its 20th Anniversary in 2008, the RunVermont Board of Directors elected to broaden the recognition offered by the Hall of Fame and opened consideration to people whose efforts, consistent with the mission of RunVermont, have supported running in Vermont.

2012 Inductee: Sam Davis

There are few arenas in the local running community that Sam Davis hasn't touched. Sam currently volunteers at many athletic events including Ready, Set, Run! and YAM Scram. Sam serves on the newly formed Youth Committee and the YAM Scram Race Committee. As a USA Track & Field certified coach, Sam provides consultation for runners of all ages and abilities, including his Marathon 201 and Half Marathon class participants. His quiet enthusiasm is motivating  to kids and adults alike.

Sam's excitement about running is contagious, his energy abundant. One of Sam's Marathon 201 students writes, "Training for a long race can be a chore, no doubt, but Sam's stories, good nature and advice always made me see the upside, even on my worst days. I often hear that running is a 'community,' and Sam epitomizes that for me. From first class to last, regardless of our skill levels, he made everyone feel like they were part of something special, and by example made each of us WANT To be part of it." Sam's dedication to running and especially to his students and our community's youth is remarkable and inspiring.
