Are the times on the website correct for the preferred start corral? The 1:39:00 half and the 42:00 10K seem pretty much in line with one another, but the 2:30:00 marathon time seems to be a much faster class of runner than the other two. Just curious if the 2:30:00 was a typo or if I'm misunderstanding the information.

Sorry for the delay in responding on this one. You are correct that 2:30 was a typo. As noted on the Runner Services page, the standards for access to the Preferred Corral for marathoners for 2011 will be 3:20 marathon, 1:35 half marathon, or 43:00 10k. Standards for relay runners have not yet been announced.

Could you let me know where you saw the other times, we may have a page that missed being updated.

And just to follow up on the times relay runners will need to be placed in the Preferred Corral...

--1:30:00 or faster half marathon
--42:00 or faster 10k
--20:00 or faster 5k

These times must have been run on a certified course in 2010 or in 2011 through May 1st. For a list of certified courses go to http://www.usatf.org/events/courses/search/.

For relay teams looking for placement in the Preferred Corral we ask that you submit qualifying times for your First Leg runner only. If you have a few faster runners on your team but the first runner for your team is going to run 7:30 pace or slower we ask that you not apply for the Preferred Corral.

All relay team Captains were sent an email on March 16 with details on how apply for the Preferred Corral.

When will we know if we've been placed in the preferred corral?

If you applied for the Preferred Corral and did not hear back from me you are in.

Only those runners who applied for the Preferred Corral and were denied received an email from me, requesting additional data.
