Each year, over 4000 runners participate in one of two relay divisions: the 2-Person Relay and the 3-5 Person Relay. The Marathon and Relay begin at the same time, and runners in all events participate alongside each other.
Entries for both Relay divisions are determined by lottery. See Relay Lottery Information below for details. |

Relay Lottery Application: |
To ensure a quality experience for every participant and also make the application process as fair and equitable as possible all relay teams for the 2010 KBVCM are selected by lottery. Lottery registration closed January 31, 2010.
Please read below for information on selling, joining or buying a bib/team.

Relay Lottery Timeline: |
Teams will be RANDOMLY selected from the lottery pool by a third-party by February 15, 2010 and posted on this website. Teams will also be notified via EMAIL of their selection.
Unselected applications will be destroyed along with payment information. The Runner & Guest handbook will be mailed to team captains in March, 2010. To request additional copies, email us at registration@runvermont.org or call 802-863-8412. |
Relay Team Registration
(if you are selected in the lottery): |

- Team member registrations are due April 30

All team member changes must be completed BY FRIDAY, MAY 14, 2010

Teams will be placed in the correct division by the Registration Director upon receiving the registration
- Your processed credit card/cancelled check is proof of your confirmed entry.
- Only team captains will receive relay confirmations.
- Registered participants will be updated weekly online.
- The Runner & Guest Handbook will be mailed in March to both members of the 2-person relay team and to the Team Captain of the 3-5 person relay team.

Relay Team Captain Responsibilities: |
Every Relay Team MUST designate a Relay Team Captain as part of the lottery registration process. The Team Captain is responsible for the following:
- Authorizing any changes to the team
- D-Tag™ assignment
|
Relay Transfer Policies: |
- Teams selected for the 2-person and 3-5 person relay will be selected and posted here by 2/15/10
- The Relay Transfer Board allows a Team Captain to find someone to take an unwanted team and/or for a team to find a runner(s) to fill their team
- The Relay Transfer Board also allows runners whose teams were not selected or who do not have a team to find a team to run on
- There is no fee to transfer a Relay team from one Captain to another, or to change team members.
- Relay teams may not defer a team earned in the 2010 lottery to 2011
- The Relay Transfer Board will open by 2/15/10 and close 4/30/10
- Details on how to change your team in the registration system will be posted here in February.

3-5 Person Relay
Information:
|
- Teams may have 3, 4, or 5 runners on their team. Team members may run more than one leg.
- It is possible to have a marathoner on your team. Ask us how!
- All runners on your team must be registered on your team roster and must complete the medical information on the back of their race bib. Running with an unregistered runner on your team is grounds for disqualification.
- 3-5 PERSON RELAY legs are approximately : 3.1, 5.6, 6.4, 5.5, and 5.6 miles each
- A description of each leg is available here
- Relay runners MUST exchange the yellow band with the next runner in the exchange zone.
- Relay Zones 1, 2 and 3 are within walking distance of the start (less than 1/4 mile).
- A shuttle is available for runners going to and from exchange zone 4, Flynn School. The bus stop is located north of Battery Park and runs continuously starting at 8:30 a.m. Flynn School is located approximately 3 miles up North Ave.

Baggage for 4th Leg Relay Runners Only: Your race day baggage (warm-ups, clothing, etc.) may be dropped off at the Flynn School (Open 8:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. <please note time extension>). We do not handle full-size suitcases. The baggers will tag your bag with your bib #. Baggage from the Flynn School will be available for pickup in Waterfront Park at 12:30 p.m.
- Each relay zone is sectioned according to bib number. To make it easier for your team member to find you, wait in your designated zone. Feel free to wear a tall hat, wave a flag or do something else that makes you stand out.
- Your bib must be worn on the front of your body.
- The relay runner who is running the last leg MUST wear the timing tag on their shoe. NO TAG, NO TIME, NO EXCEPTION.
- Aid stations include VT Spring water, diluted lemon-lime gatorade, port-o-let and medical services.

2-Person Relay Information: |
- 2-PERSON RELAY legs are each approximately 13.1 miles each. The exchange zone is at the half-way point at Oakledge Park.
- The D-Tag™*/ must be worn (on the ankle strap we provide) by the starting runner. This tag is passed to the second runner at the 13.1 Exchange Zone. No tag, No Time, No Exception.

Two-Person Relay Bus: Two-person relay runners have the option of using the two-person relay bus that travels to and from Oakledge Park. Other options include walking to the park or riding a bike. Do NOT drive to Oakledge. Parking is NOT available at or near Oakledge Park.

Buses to Oakledge Park are located on St Paul at King St. Buses leave St. Paul/King starting at 8:20 a.m. and run continuously until 11:15 a.m. The shuttle will drop off runners 1/3 mile from the 13.1 exchange zone. Leave plenty of time to get to your exchange area. From the bus stop, follow our signs towards the lake and park.

Buses returning from Oakledge Park will transport runners who have completed the 1st 13.1 leg. The bus loading area is located at the intersection of Flynn Avenue and Pine Street, approximately 1/3 mile from Oakledge Park. Runners will be dropped off at the corner of St. Paul Street and King Street, 5 blocks from Waterfront Park.

Secured bike parking is located at Oakledge Park which is 2 miles from the start.

Baggage: The 2nd runner on your team may bring a bag labeled with your bib number to Oakledge Park. The bags are secured by race staff through 11:15 a.m. Your team member must bring this bag back after they complete their leg. No baggage will be transferred to Waterfront.

Aid Stations, Mile Markers, and Course Clocks: |
Course Aid Stations
Aid Stations are located at the Start, Finish, and 19 other sites, approximately every 1.5 miles on the course (starting at mile 2.5). Aid Stations offer Vermont Pure Spring Water and lemon-lime Gatorade. Each station has trained medical staff, radio operators and port-o-lets. Food is available at Miles 11.1 and 18.6
Mile Markers and Course Clocks
Mile marker signs are positioned every mile along the race course. Time clocks are positioned at the every two miles as well as the start, finish, and half-way point. |
