We are excited to announce that Jacky Hunt-Broersma will be the fourth member of #MebsTeam. Welcome, Jacky!

Jacky's Story

I'm an amputee marathon runner. I lost my leg to cancer a few years ago. I started running June 2016 to spend quality with my husband who has been a runner for years and now I'm addicted and want to inspire others to run. In this short time, I’ve run numerous Half Marathons and one Full Marathon (Chicago). I Boston qualified at Chicago in my division as an amputee and so will be running Boston 2018.  I've also run lots of 5k races normally placing in my age group (not bad for an amputee😉).

Running has taught me that I'm stronger than I think.  The entire running journey has been absolutely incredible so far. It will be so incredible to run with Meb.

I'm a mom of a 5-year-old and a 7-year-old.

You can find photos of me on my Instagram account @ncrunnerjacky. I started the Instagram account to try and inspire others to run. What's your excuse? Is my motto😉 I actually have "what's your excuse" printed on the back of my race shirts.  The response to those words at races has been amazing. People start running faster so they can finish before me or people run past and say "because of you I'm finishing this race."
