Many of you have heard that we have a New Race App and New Runner Tracking. We are so excited about this as we think it is going to offer a much better experience for our runners and spectators.
Here is some information to get you started:
Marathon Runners
Option 1: To receive push notifications when you cross the start line, mile 6.2, mile 10, mile 13.1, mile 20 and the finish line, your friends and family should download the RaceJoy App onto their mobile device, search for Vermont City Marathon, and add to "My Races". Using the bib button in the upper left hand corner, locate runner by searching (using bib number or runner name). There is no charge for this option. Option 2: If friends and family would like to know your exact location during the race, both runner AND spectator should download the RaceJoy App, search for Vermont City Marathon, and add to "My Races". On App home screen both runner and spectator must purchase the .99 PhoneTrak upgrade by clicking the PhoneTrak icon. 2 Person Relay Teams
Option 1: To receive push notifications when your teammate crosses the start line, mile 6.2, mile 10, mile 13.1, mile 20 and the finish line, your teammates, friends and family should download the RaceJoy App on their mobile device, search for Vermont City Marathon, and add to "My Races". 3-5 Person Relay Teams

Option 2: On Course Runner Tracking - If teammates, friends and family would like to know exact location of relay runners during the race, each teammate AND spectator should download the RaceJoy App, search for Vermont City Marathon, and add to "My Races". GPS Tracking How To:
For those that wish to be tracked live during the event: 1. Purchase upgrade: Click PhoneTrak and follow the prompts carefully. 2. Carry your phone: Participants must carry claimed device during the race. 3. START LIVE TRACKING on RACE DAY: Come back into RaceJoy within 30 minutes of the race start and activate tracking. 4. Replay race day in Buzz: Click Buzz to review your alerts and replay cheers!
Note: Each phone model, version of the phone operating system and cell provider varies and can affect GPS location services on your phone. Therefore, there are no guarantees for GPS tracking in RaceJoy. However, please do not hesitate to contact us, if you have questions or experience any issues. Contact us at support@racejoy.com. How to Verify Tracking is Active: 1. A PhoneTrak Icon next to the name in the Participants List signals this person is set up for PhoneTrak and can receive cheers. The icon signals turn green 30 minutes prior to the official race start. 2. If GPS is Online you will see YES in green next to their name in Your Participant’s list. If GPS is NOT online, you will see NO in red next to their name. 3. Any Participant who accesses RaceJoy can receive cheers. This is indicated by the megaphone icon
Phone Settings: Important: Make sure your phone notifications for RaceJoy are on to receive cheers. See phone settings. iPhone users must have Background App refresh ON for tracking to stay enabled. Location Services should also be turned ON (ALWAYS ON for iOS8 users).
Battery: GPS tracking will draw on your phone's battery (both for the tracker and the tracked). See the RaceJoy Battery Preservation Tips in the FAQ section of the App or visit our Support Page on RaceJoy's Website Here.
